STEAM is an acronym for the fields of study in the categories of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.
At the Cade Museum for Creativity + Invention, ALL of our classes and programming are developed with STEAM in mind. It is the scaffolding upon which we created the Cade Way of teaching, underscoring that learning happens best when disciplines intersect. Each class is labeled with a STEAM descriptor. The emphasis for the class is capitalized within this descriptor.
Example: StEaM denotes that the class’s emphasis is strongest in Science, Engineering and Math . Whereas, SteAm is strongest in Science and Art.
What will be taught?
Roll up those sleeves, pull out your aprons and join us on a tasty journey of chemistry at work in the Cade Creativity Kitchen!
In this lab, students will discover how the three states of matter can be affected by chemical reactions, how temperature can change the form of an object, or how the colors of certain products are altered using H2O. These reactions will be demonstrated by transforming granulated sugar into a solid sheet, and by forcing air into a liquid to make whipped mousse.
Participants will create “edible chemistry” projects while learning about the fundamentals of the three states of matter and their basic chemical reactions.
